Ms. Portia Simpson Miller, Prime Minister of Jamaica, has given a stern warning to the new board of Caribbean Airlines and asked them to give a serious thought over the affairs of the airline.

The Jamaican Prime Minister has told the new Caribbean Airlines board to set its house in order within one month. She has warned that if the board doesn’t heed to the warning then it should be ready to face the prospect of getting the Air Jamaica brand withdrawn.

The Prime Minister was speaking to the media persons while attending the 34th CARICOM Heads of Government Conference.
  
Trinidad and Jamaica signed an agreement in 2010 allowing the Jamaican government to own 16 percent of Caribbean Airlines, as part of the conditions for Caribbean Airlines taking over the lucrative routes of Air Jamaica.

Caribbean Airlines has since acquired and been operating six aircrafts and eight routes of Air Jamaica. In recent time, Caribbean Airlines has however reduced its operations on Air Jamaica routes thus raising concerns of Jamaican Prime Minister.
