AirTran Airways flights to Grand Rapids will end on August 10, 2013. Southwest Airlines, which wholly owns AirTran Airways, has said that Grand Rapids will now be converted to Southwest service.

Currently, the process of AirTran Airways integration with Southwest Airlines is underway ever since the merger was announced. The flights being presently operated by AirTran Airways will cease to exist after the integration of flights are fully achieved.

Southwest Airlines has said that it will begin operating flights from Grand Rapids to Saint Louis, Orlando, Denver and Baltimore/Washington from August 11, 2013, a day after AirTran Airways ends its service to Grand Rapids.

Southwest Airlines has also announced it will start nonstop flights between Flint, Michigan and Las Vegas from August 11 this year. The inaugural service from Flint will also include nonstop service to Tampa Bay, Orlando and Baltimore/Washington. AirTran Airways is currently serving Bishop International Airport in Flint.
