UAE national carrier Etihad Airways has transformed the in-flight
entertainment with its new offerings. Etihad Airways recently introduced
eight live television channels that will broadcast live news and
sports. The airline treated its customers to the recently-concluded
Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Etihad Airways in a statement said that it has started to broadcast live
news channels like BBC World News, BBC Arabic, euronews and Sport 24 on
its flights. The broadcast started from November 1, 2013. The airline
also said that it will start broadcasting other TV channels as well such
as CNBC, Japan’s NHK World Premium and CNN during this month. The
airline is also planning to introduce Sky News Arabia in the coming
months.
The airline said that it will broadcast the Brazil Grand Prix live on
November 24, 2013. Earlier, the highlights of the sports coverage
included the final races of the Formula 1 season with the Formula 1
Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix held on November 3 at Yas Marina
Circuit and the US Grand Prix held on November 17 this year. Apart from
this, the customers will also be able to watch several top sporting
actions live this November including Euroleague Basketball, German
Bubdesliga and English Premier League matches, and the ATP World Tour
Finals. Etihad Airways will broadcast major sports events in 2014 as
well. These include the FIFA World Cup, the Masters and Ryder Cup golf,
the Winter Olympics, and the Australian Open, French Open and US Open
tennis championships.
