Austrian Airlines has announced that it would once again start flying
to Tehran. The European airline is all set to commence flights to the
Iranian capital from March 11, 2014. The airline has terminated service
to the city owing to financial sanctions and fluctuations in the
currency.
As per the announcement the Vienna-based airline will offer flights to
the city pair five times a week. It will deploy Airbus A319 on the
route. The news has triggered a wave of happiness amongst the travelers
and passengers of Tehran. The city is a prominent gateway into the Asian
country. Most business travelers to the country fly to the capital city
for work. The city is also one of the major links to popular European
countries. This flight will establish direct connections to Europe,
something that the country needs.
As per the schedule, Austrian airways will depart Vienna at 8:10 pm and arrive in
Tehran at 3 am the next day. Return flights will depart Tehran at 3:55
pm and arrive in Vienna at 6 am.
The airline seems to be rapidly expanding its network across the world.
It also intends to boost service to London Heathrow from Vienna.
However, nothing is certain at point in time.
As far as the airline is concerned, at present, it flies to about 120
destinations worldwide. The airline, which was established in 1957,
operates out of its hub in Vienna International Airport. Its focus
cities comprise Graz Airport, Innsbruck Airport, and Salzburg Airport.
