Hong Kong is a bustling city with something amazing to see on nearly every street corner. When Christmas comes around, there are even exciting activities to participate in and holiday-themed sights to behold. When you grab your cheap tickets to Hong Kong, you'll experience the Christmas in a whole new way. Here are four reasons why you should consider visiting The Pearl of the Orient this Christmas:
1. A city-wide light show
Hong Kong looks like no other city on earth. The towers of Hong Kong Island seem to sprout from the very shoreline and create a forest of steel, glass and lights. Across the harbor, Kowloon sprawls into the mountains and beyond in a constant buzz of activity. At night, Travel + Leisure Magazine recommended standing on the shore near the Avenue of the Stars to take in an incredible 15-minute light show that illuminates the skyline of Hong Kong Island. It's a sight you won't soon forget.
2. The float parade at Hong Kong Disneyland
According to China Highlights, Hong Kong Disneyland celebrates Christmas from mid-November through the end of December. In addition to being decorated in Christmas ornaments, the amusement park also holds a parade of computerized floats adorned with hundreds of thousands of LED lights. You can catch the show daily at 6:30 p.m.
If you're looking for a free activity, head to Statue Square, located near Central Station. Discover Hong Kong reported that the square will be brimming with Christmas spirit throughout the month of December. In addition to a giant Christmas tree, there will also be visits from Santa Claus, tasty treats and carolers. It's a great place to stop on your way to a nice holiday meal at one of the nearby restaurants.
4. Night markets
Travelers to Hong Kong would be remiss to skip the city's vibrant night markets. Scattered across the city, night markets are full of products ranging from electronics to clothes and beyond. If you're looking for a Christmas present for someone special, you'll probably find something interesting. Just remember to bring your haggling skills! You'll find markets on Temple Street, Tung Choi Street, Ap Liu Street, Lascar Row, Hollywood Road and Stanley Village.
