Lufthansa, the German flag carrier, continues to set new standards in its first class flights. The airline will be configuring 10 of its B747-400s aircrafts with a new concept of a seat and a bed alongside giving an entirely new flight experience.
The airline will be offering these newly designed flight services by November. The other classes such as business class and coach class will remain unchanged.
The airline in a statement said that the window seats of the First class cabin would be converted into full-length, lie flat beds. The top quality mattress and the flat sleeping surface will provide great comfort to its first class passengers. Thus, each passenger will have both a separate seat as well as separate bed. The sound-absorbing curtains ad sound-deadening insulations beneath the carpets will provide necessary peace and quiet to the passengers.
The new concept will reduce the number of seat from 16 to eight, where bed will be placed beside the window to add more privacy to the passengers.
The carrier will be receiving the delivery of first new fleet of B747-800s by 2012. Although the airline will provide the first class seating to the customers from next month, but the new installation of a bed and a seat will only be available in November.
