by Richa G 12. June 2013 10:10

Horizon Air, a subsidiary of Alaska Airlines, recently marked its 15th anniversary of its flights operations out of YLW, Kelowna International Airport. The airline along with Kelowna International Airport celebrated their 15th anniversary on May 10, 2013.

Horizon Air’s inaugural flight landed at Kelowna International Airport 15 years ago on May 10, 1998 from Seattle, Washington. The airline carried 37 passengers on its maiden flight and operated a Dash 8-200 aircraft.

Glenn Johnson, President of Horizon Air, said that Kelowna International Airport had played a significant role in the success of the airline. He said that prior to starting Horizon Air flights at Kelowna, the airline had been offering services out of its main hubs at Vancouver, Edmonton and Victoria.

Horizon Air presently operates twice daily flights between Kelowna and Seattle. The airline also offers thrice daily services during the winter.
