Southwest Airlines nonstop Oklahoma City-Atlanta service Nov 3

Southwest Airlines has announced that it will be launching its new service between Oklahoma City and Atlanta from November this year. The airline said that it will begin flight operations on Oklahoma City-Atlanta route starting from November 3, 2013.

Southwest Airlines has said that it will operate daily flights (excluding Fridays and Sundays) between Oklahoma City’s Will Rogers World Airport and Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. With the launch of the new service, Southwest Airlines will now become the second carrier in the United States to offer direct flights from Oklahoma City to Atlanta. Currently, Delta Air Lines is the only U.S. carrier to offer service on this route.

Meanwhile, Southwest Airlines has also indicated that its first flight from Richmond would take off on November 3, 2013, and with this the business at the airport would also gain pace. Troy Bell, spokesperson of Richmond Airport, said that the daily nonstop service from Richmond to Orlando for now could just be the beginning.  He said that Southwest Airlines had been a very powerful brand, and that the service by the airline was long sought after. This is going to be immensely beneficial as the Richmond community and the airport hope that Southwest Airlines will continue to operate from here for at least 15 years, if not more. He said that tens of millions of travelers would be benefiting from the service every year.

Bell said that the airline is going to unleash the “Southwest Effect” with its strong brand. It is expected that other airlines would be prompted in dropping the prices to compete and boost passenger traffic at some airports.
