American-US Airways merger to impact Qantas frequent flyers

by Richa G 14. February 2013 05:55

Frequent flyers booking Qantas Airways flights are likely to be impacted by the merger of American Airlines with US Airways. The American Airlines has however preferred to keep its present name intact as well as its oneworld alliance membership.

Qantas Airways frequent flyers traveling to the U.S. and beyond have began to ask how the new combined airline, following American Airlines and US Airways merger, is going to affect their status, miles and points.

The frequent flyers of Qantas Airways have already started to see some benefits. Some marginal additional options while internally connecting on Qantas Airways and other oneworld partners in the United States is being anticipated. It is also hoped that there would be somewhat better business class seats on the combined airline.

The frequent flyers also hope that they will continue to earn points and other privileges that go with oneworld member airlines. Qantas Airways is also a oneworld alliance member just like American Airlines.
