Etihad Airways and Garuda Indonesia codeshare pact extended

Etihad Airways recently announced it has extended its codeshare agreement with Garuda Indonesia. Both the carriers would now be operating new codeshare flights utilizing each other’s network. The two airlines are also planning to introduce earn and burn loyalty privileges throughout each other’s networks.

The codeshare agreement will now enable Etihad Airways flights code to be put on Garuda Indonesia-operated flights. These routes include Jakarta-Balikpapan, Jakarta-Denpasar Bali, Jakarta-Makassar, Jakarta-Manado and Jakarta-Singapore, and as well as Jakarta-Abu Dhabi and Jakarta-Amsterdam.

Similarly, Garuda Indonesia would also be able to put its flight code on Etihad Airways-operated flights to five new cities, including Munich, Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, Brussels and Bahrain.

Garuda Indonesia will be increasing its frequency on its Jakarta-Abu Dhabi-Amsterdam route effective from June 21, 2013. The airline will now operate six times weekly flights instead of the existing four on this route. Etihad Airways flight code would also be now put on Garuda Indonesia-operated flights on Jakarta-Perth route.
