China Airlines has launched flights to two new destinations from Taoyuan International Airport. China Airlines flights between Taoyuan and Urumqi was launched on June 25, 2013. The flight between the two destinations will be around six hours. This will be the longest flight time between Taiwan and China.

The airline also added another route to its cross-strait flight network beginning flights between Taoyuan and Lijiang from June 26. The airline started flights just in time for the summer travel season. The flights on Taoyuan-Lijiang route will be of duration of 3 hour and 45 minute each way.
Urumqi is situated in Xinjiang province in northwestern China, while Lijiang is located in northwestern Yunnan in China.

China Airlines will offer roundtrip flights between Taoyuan and Urumqi on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The flights will be operated with the help of an Airbus A330-300 aircraft configured with 30 seats in business class and 227 economy class seats.  The airline will deploy a Boeing 737-800 aircraft configured with eight business class seats and 150 economy class seats to operate flights on Taoyuan-Lijiang route.
